Deanna & Christopher

Message from the Bride & Groom

It ain’t fiction, it’s a natural fact, we come together because opposites attract.

3 years ago, Chris and I met in a deaf dog support group (jk) and it was then that we knew we were destined to be with another... well he may have known before I did :) but here we are today! We have successfully blended our fur baby family and are excited to start the new chapter in our lives beginning with our destination wedding to Puerto Vallarta! We hope that you all will enjoy a wonderful vacation and take one day out of your vacation to celebrate our wedding with us.

Chris and I are thrilled that you may be joining us for our special day. Since this is a destination wedding, your attendance to our wedding is more than enough of a gift for us. However, if you would like to contribute, we would kindly ask that you donate towards our honeymoon fund. We plan on going to Thailand for our honeymoon so our love of travel can continue.... and that we can spend some time with some amazing elephants!

Chris and I hope this website will be a one stop shop for you. The website will allow you to RSVP, book your room, answer some FAQ’s, and will have some helpful hints that Chris and I have learned first hand. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

We understand that travel may not be in the cards for all of you at this time, but we know you will be with us in spirit.

We love you all,
Chris & Deanna

Helpful Tips from the Couple

BOOKING
** We are fortunate to have the ability to book here on our website. However, when you book, it may state king or double beds. We recommend that if you are looking for a king, to call Riu Palace Pacifico and state your request.
** Also, please remember, in order for us to have our wedding at Riu, we need 80% of our guests to stay at the Riu Palace Pacifico... and let’s be honest, you want to be with us! Those that know...the party never stops at the Palace...unless it’s Deanna’s B-E-D Time!

PACKING
** Technically, the beginning of October is still the rainy season in Puerto Vallarta. We personally did not experience rainfall during the day; the rain that occurred happened in the evening, if that. When packing for your trip, please remember Puerto Vallarta is in the tropics so it will be humid! Chris can contest that cotton shirts were a sweaty challenge! Pack accordingly.

ARRIVAL
** When booking your room, you will have the ability to request a Transport to and from Riu. This is free of charge, but please remember to use military time when completing the request.
** Be sure to exchange your American Dollars at the airport. The resort will be able to break bills for you but not complete the money exchange. The resort is indeed all inclusive, including gratuity, but money is needed if you would like to tip your servers, massages on the beach, or taxis. An ATM is located in the resort lobby. It will dispense pesos for a standard ATM banking fee.
** Once you pass through Puerto Vallarta’s customs, you will be greeted with people trying to sell you on adventures. Bypass all these individuals, unless you want to sit through a 75 minute timeshare speech, and head outside to your transport.
** Riu transport will be waiting outside for you. Please walk up to them and they will get you safely to the hotel.

ADVENTURES
** If you would like to plan an excursion while you are visiting, we highly recommend using Vallarta Adventures (https://www.vallarta-adventures.com/en/). Chris and I attended the Savia (a Cirque du Soleil inspired show) and it was amazing! I have also heard AMAZING things about their zip lining adventure!
** Riu will have an activity board in the lobby that you can join in at no expense. Chris and I loved our water aerobics experience!
** The Riu beach may also have opportunities to rent jet skis, scuba, etc. The concierge will also be a great support for other adventure opportunities.

DINING
** Riu has 4-5 restaurants to choose from for daily dining. The times of operations are posted throughout the resort. Riu has only 1 restaurant with a dress code so be sure to bring a pair of slacks gentlemen!

RELAXATION
** Massages can be pricey at a 5 star resort. We highly recommend beach massages! Chris and I had a wonderful experience and it doesn’t get better than relaxing and listening to the waves crash onto the shore!
** Although in June 2021 Mexico’s stance on marijuana use became legal for private and/or recreational use, we advise that you do NOT bring any paraphernalia or cannabis with you. You will most likely not have a problem finding it here for purchase. On that note, as of February 2021, vaping products will not be allowed through customs without a small tax fee. Again, there are smoke/vape shops close to the hotel for those needs, but the tax is approximately $37 US.

DEPARTURE
** Be sure to coordinate your departure with your transport specialist at Riu. We recommend getting this out of the way when you arrive. The specialist is typically at Riu from 9am - 5pm.
** COVID-19 rapid tests are given at Riu. You will need to schedule yours with the hospital staff (on site) 2 days before departure. The front desk can support you with times to coordinate your rapid test. We are hoping that this will not be a thing next year, but just in case you all will be taken care of.
** When you land in Puerto Vallarta, you will have completed your immigration card on the plane. Be sure to keep this card because you will need this when flying back to the states.
